Why is this important? Well by democratizing the technology, it allows almost anyone to create and publish a mobile app instead of wondering how to do so. Better yet, it shifts the focus towards the ‘why and what’ someone can publish as well as actually doing it and publishing the app. Big Difference!
If you did the slightest bit of research, one might find the information about how the numbers of mobile devices available, delivered and consumed on the market today are reaching incredible numbers. I could state some of those figures and statistics but almost immediately after I hit the proverbial ‘publish’ button, those stats would be out of date. Alas, as an example I will post a recent stat I read at the time of this writing: Tablet figures (yes tablet figures alone) estimated to climb to 500 Million by the year 2015. That is an astonishing number. One can only imagine the potential of mobile reach on all mobile devices in the years to come.
Its widely discussed that having a mobile presence is the next big frontier and would be within reason for almost anyone or any business to consider developing a mobile application. Again, we are not discussing about creating the next Angry Birds, Clash of The Clans or Candy Crush here. However, getting started creating apps and understanding the app stores and markets could lead to interest and gathering the skill-set or required knowledge to start those types of development projects. Or not.
That being said, this book is more about developing apps that will have an audience for your content. Apps that are about your business, industry or organizations can be a powerful tool and extension that connects you through a medium that has become very natural and widely accepted by a lot of people.
