This book is about the Passion of Christ. This historical episode is without a doubt an event, which shall not be repeated. This is a meditative, a contemplative written work designed to re-ignite the lost pictorial memory, which forever changed mankind's relationship with God. The historical perspective: There is a common, accepted belief that devotions to this sacred rite originated in the late 4th century. During which time, pilgrims flocked to the Holy Land from all parts of the known world to visit the land of Jesus. Emperor Constantine in 335 AD, built a church called Church of the Holy Sepulcher. This cathedral is believed to be atop the tomb of Jesus. Processions of pilgrims to this church were common. Legend has it that a woman from Gaul (today France) traveled to the Holy Land around the 4th century, within her diary she wrote how she joined Christians from all parts of the Roman world; walking westward on Holy Thursday from the garden of Gethsemane to the church of the Holy Sepulcher, where they celebrated Jesus s death and resurrection. The points of reference or as we refer to them today as stations, are merely places believed to be the actual spaces where significant events unfolded as our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ passed through, as He made his way to Golgotha. In the Eighteenth Century, the Franciscans played a major role in the development of this particular pilgrimage. By the nineteenth century, this ritual has spread throughout most of Europe. This work is meant to be read slowly. It crosses all denominations and is designed to express the ultimate of love s expression written down for us in John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son. Take a moment and reflect on what has happened for you, me and all of mankind.
