This is particularly true, when we consider that the regiment has been found worthy and chosen to be included as one of the 300 Fighting Regi ments by Lt. Col. Wm. F. Fox, U. S. Army, in his history of Regimental Losses in the Civil War, 1861 of over regiments in the Union army, and as its total of killed and wounded were 641, and its total deaths 274, as Col. Fox says It evidently did considerable fighting.
