Description

Two sisters huddle together on a rain-soaked Argentinean railroad platform in 1968. Alicia and Marta are about to embark on a remarkable migration which will take them across two continents, ending in the United States and beyond. At least, that’s the plan. The idea of two attractive young women traveling alone in South and Central America during the turbulent 1960s fills their relatives with dread. Uncle Toti puts into words what everyone fears when he dourly proclaims the sisters will be "raped and killed" in some remote and dangerous road. Making the risk even greater was their significant lack of money, but to Alicia and Marta the risk of not leaving Argentina was the greatest risk of all. The sisters endure serious setbacks and obstacles on their journey, yet they encounter kindhearted and helpful strangers along the way. Three months later they find themselves thousands of miles away from their homeland in the United States where a new hurdle must be overcome before Alicia and Marta carve out new lives in Denver, Colorado.
