This book is comprised of many different sources: the notes of homicide detective, Cpl. Yancy Thompson as he responded to the crime scene, Thompson’s personal feelings as written on his private notepad, newspaper articles, interviews and the journal of convicted murder, Ren Lewitz. These pieces allow you to abstractly see into the mind of a terrorized town, a frazzled detective, and villainous murderer. All sources are in chronological order; Mr. Lewitz’s diary starts sometime before the murder while Mr. Thompson’s notes start as he walks onto the scene.
