Every day, on the way home from school, Elena would pass by this beautiful house in her small hometown and daydream about her future, not of fortune and fame but of a family. This, however, was not her reality. Follow the story as she describes how this daydream took a turn to the bitter reality of life in a home of domestic violence, alcoholism and poverty and the life-changing events which prompted her to make a way out of this life for herself and her children. Today this house, with its faded paint and broken windows, stands as a constant reminder of what life was supposed to be, what it turned out to be and what she will do in the future—for herself as well as her children. This is not a woe-is-me story, but a “if I can do it, so can you” story!
