Affirmative Action (Academic Research Book 1)

The elements of affirmative action as it applies to the public and private sector differ. The difference is based on the fact that Executive Order 11246, commonly known as Affirmative Action, is a document drafted to guide the practice and procedures required by any organization, individual or entity that wishes to take part in a government contract or receive government funding. The fundamental purpose of the affirmative action act is to assure that minorities receive equal opportunity for occupation, salary, and advancement as non-minority citizens. This document reviews the elements of Executive Order 11246 and how they apply to the organizations that must abide by the executive order. Business that are not required to conform to the order is also discussed as the need for affirmative action is not limited to public sector.
