The older a woman gets, the more the dating pool seems to shrink.

Dorrie, a former Army sergeant, starts dating Jack, a widower with a teenage daughter. Dorrie tries to befriend the daughter, but Dorrie is only going to put up with so much nonsense from the girl.

Alexa is in high school and misses her late mother every day. She is not prepared when her father starts dating Dorrie, so Alexa turns to her friends for advice on how to get this woman out of her father's life so it can still be just the two of them with Mom's memory.

Jack just wants Dorrie and Alexa to get along without having to do anything himself. He can solve any problem in his life by turning on the television and ignoring the rest of the world.

The pranks between Alexa and Dorrie escalate, but one goes too far. After that the real world and real problems intrude into their lives and they have to figure out how to get along.
