Description

At some point, Japan’s nation building success had propelled them to become the second largest economy just behind the United States of America in less than fifty years after the Second World War despite constantly faced with natural catastrophes such as earthquakes and tsunamis as well as lacked of natural resources. It is widely believed that the industrial policy of Japan has the ingredients for nation building which can be observed through their industrial productivity and successful enterprises. Hence, albeit my limited experience in industry, the following musings are humbly posed as the main thrusts for discussion:
1) The definition and formulation of industrial policy in the context of Japan
2) Japanese industrial productivity
3) Successful enterprises in Japan
4) A case study for nation building – Kawasaki as an industrial city
5) Relevance to Brunei Darussalam
Keywords: industrial productivity, successful enterprises
