Pathlight Autumn 2014

Pathlight is a magazine of Chinese fiction and poetry in English translation.

The Autumn 2014 is themed around "Myth and History", exploring the boundaries between recorded fact and imagined past. Alai re-spins a traditional Tibetan folk tale "Aku Tonpa", while Zhang Wei's eerie "King's Blood" creates imagined histories both for a bare patch of ground, and for the traditional Chinese reverence for power.

Post-modern touches come from Li Jingze's retelling of the "Orphan of Zhao" legend, while Hui Wa's spine-chilling poems explore personal, internal histories.
