PRAIRIE MATE: The Story of a Frontier Journey Into Womanhood

Josie is a chaste and unbroken eighteen year old young woman living with her religious family on the prairie. She helps with her chores and obeys her stern fathers wishes...for the most part.

One morning while Josie is in the barn, she notices the family mare acting strangely. Josie puts two and two together, being the inquisitive type, and realizes that the poor horse is in heat.

From there Josie embarks upon a harrowing journey. Against the strict rule of her pious father, and in secret, she sneaks out one night to try and bring the loyal mare to meet a stallion so that her needs can get accommodated.

On her way to a neighboring farm where she knows a stallion can be located, Josie finds much more than anticipated. Was it the mares needs she endeavors to satisfy...or her own?

For Josie was always a little different. She fidgeted in church, squirming in her seat and daydreaming of a world outside the confines of not only her family's farm but also the very laws of civilization itself.

Little does she know, a spirit awaits her in the night forest. And when Josie returns home, she may not do so with everything in the same condition as when she left.
