November 2006. John York, Owner and President of the San Francisco 49ers, in a news conference in Santa Clara, CA, declares that the SF49ers are shifting their focus to the little City of Santa Clara as a new home for this fabled franchise. Thus begins a saga, a David and Goliath story, of one man’s journey to establish a professional sports team in his hometown.
Follow Kevin Moore’s adventures first with the San Francisco Giants and then the Oakland Athletics, culminating in his achievement, a successful “Hail Mary Pass†that brought the SF49ers to the little Mission City. By all rights, Santa Clara had little chance to attract an NFL team. This small community seemed ill-equipped to host a professional sports franchise and unlikely to wield the financial muscle needed to build a billion dollar stadium. But the dream Kevin Moore pursued was potent enough to attract key players, strong enough to unite a community, and bold enough to land Santa Clara in the end zone with the 49ers.
With a foreword by 49ers Dwight Clark (“The Catchâ€), Brent Jones, and John Faylor, this book is an enthralling look behind-the-scenes, the untold stories that underlie a remarkable achievement and an incredible new Levi’s Stadium, host to Super Bowl 50, the Golden Super Bowl in February 2016.
