"I saw a dead sparrow today,
The body swelling and hard,
perhaps I kicked it.
I don’t remember much along the lines,
or that the plots were missing suddenly when my eyes watered—
there were people around, good people and some unaware
and I wondered why they were so silent.
I can only hear the wind of passing cars,
the smooth, irritating friction and my heart.
I see my grandma on her bed
she isn’t smiling, she never did.
The white wisp of her body; tranquil..."
