Pharmaceutical Care Practice

After years of research and politicking, Robert Cipolle and some other pharmacy leaders have successfully introduced a new practice paradigm, moving the profession of pharmacy from one involved with simply the dispensing of drugs to one involving the management of a patient's drug therapy needs. More than ever before, the pharmacist will be responsible for a patient's drug therapy assessment, understanding of their history, development of a care plan, achievement of therapeutic goals and scheduling of follow-up attitude, behaviors, commitments, concerns, ethics, functions, knowledge, responsiblities and skills on the provision of drug therapy with the goal of achieving definite outcomes toward the improvement of a patient's quality of life. It will serve the needs of the student as a core introductory textbook and can also be used by the practicing pharmacists to update their clincial skills.
