Since the publication of the first volume in this series in 1981, the quantity of published work in cost-benefit analysis has increased dramatically, the relevant audience has expanded, and methodological advances have allowed analysts to tackle a wider range of problems in the health care field. In the second volume, Drummond reviews and classifies 100 studies from this recent literature. In addition, he provides an introductory section which outlines the methodological developments exemplified by the more recent studies and pinpoints recurring methodological weaknesses.
