Petronia: Fifty Years of Post-Independence Ornithology in India: A Centenary Dedication to Dr. Salim Ali, 1896-1996

Salim Ali's association with the Bombay Natural History Society started when as a young child intrigued by the patch of yellow on the throat of a sparrow he had shot with his airgun, someone suggested he visit the Society to seek an explanation. The title of this commemorative volume, Petronia, is the generic name of the yellow-throated sparrow which started Salim Ali on his ornithological quest. It is comprised of articles on ornithology by Salam Ali's friends, colleagues, and students.
