Disaster: Current Planning and Recent Experience

Faced with the many disasters of the 1980s, various traditional theories of disaster management have been shown to be invalid and hospital responses inadequate. This book tackles current and new problems - such as bombings and radiation issues - using case studies, and seeks to explore areas such as the pyschology of disaster and the role of the media. First hand accounts of a number of recent disasters are included. The author goes on to present a theory of disaster planning and practical response intended to be accessible to front-line emergency and hospital personnel.
