Transnational corporations now exert a tremendous impact on the economy, politics, society and the environment of all countries. The research literature on the various aspects of transnational corporations is now vast. The UNCTC Library of Transnational Corporations: International Business and the Development of the World Economy is a major publishing undertaking. Each of the 20 volumes takes a key theme and opens with a summary of the important issues and a survey of the research literature connected with that theme. Then the key research articles, drawn from a diverse range of books and journals, are reproduced. Each volume is introduced and the articles selected by a leading expert on the particular theme.
