Digital Transistor Circuits (Semiconductor Electronic Education Committee Monograph)

Transistors in digital circuits in which these devices are used as switches rather than his linear control valves; and it is intended to develop an understanding of the circuit performance and design issues that arise when basic digital circuits are interconnected to form digital information processing systems. In this regard, the book emphasizes the electronic aspects of digital circuits, and does not deal with the logical design of digital systems. Chapter 1 summarizes the aspects of transistor physical electronics, models, and electrical characteristics that are necessary as background for the later chapters of book. Chapters 2 and 3 deal with simple "building block" circuits - both regenerative and non-regenerative - which use transistors as switching elements. In Chapter 4, Boolean notation, Boolean algebra, and the block diagram realization of Boolean functions are reviewed. Chapters 5 to 7 emphasize the circuit limitations and design considerations that results from basic circuit forms are interconnected to comprise more complex subsystems.
