In most developing countries, it is now realised that the most important factor in the success of agricultural sector economy is the sustainability of irrigation projects. Presently, many irrigation engineers in developing countries, despite being highly qualified, still find themselves handicapped when it comes to the design of small hydraulic structures. This book is designed to teach irrigation/civil engineers with little or no design experience how to design diversion weirs and other hydraulic structures. The text covers hydrological, hydraulical and structural aspects of the design.
