The Roman Empire and its Germanic Peoples

An account of the Germanic peoples and their kingdom between the 3rd and 8th centuries, as they invaded, settled in and transformed the Roman empire. Supported by genealogical tables and chronological charts, this study examines the origins of the Germanic peoples, their dual role as both servants and enemies of the Roman empire, their rise to imperial power, and the achievements of Huns, Vandals, Saxons, Burgundians, Visigoths and Longobards from one end of Europe to the other.
