Ninth Ward

A book written for the youth, but enjoyable by all. A twelve year old girl named Lanesha, was born in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. She was born with a caul covering her head and face. She is connected to the spiritual world and her Mama Ya Ya. It is through a child's eyes that we watch a neighborhood in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans experience the arrival of Hurricane Katrina. The surge of the Mississippi River causes the levees to give way, and it destroys a rich vibrant community made up of people who have so little, but still share what they have, with each other. This is a story of love, courage and strength as the ancestors encourage two young children to have faith in themselves in order to survive. A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE.
