The Mother of God Visits Hell is a full-length poetic play about the Virgin Mary. It is written in rhyming iambic pentameter, and based on a poem described in The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, in which the Virgin Mary travels to hell to comfort the souls in torment. While there, she becomes so moved by their plight that she pleads with God to forgive them.
