Only With Vigilance

The story of my life, my addiction and my recovery. From early on, my emotions had always ruled my life. When I started using drugs at 12 years old, I found out that I could control most of my emotions - for better or for worse. Then the drugs started to control me. For 19 years I lived in emotional chaos because of my addiction. Just because I stopped using drugs at age 31, didn't mean that I was back in control of my emotions. Far from it. After one year clean, I wrote another first step and about how I was still powerless over my feelings. It has taken a very long time to get in touch with those feelings and to know, that through the process of recovery, things do get better.
