Doing Disability Justice

"Please don't throw me away, Daddy.  Don't throw me away."  So begged the boy hiding in the closet after overhearing the psychologist say to put the boy in an institution and forget him.

For 75 years families have supported each other and advocated for better lives for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.  Beginning in a time when institutions were the answer that professionals gave, and continuing today when the Americans with Disabilities Act promises justice, family advocacy has remained the same.
