Dust

Genre label?  Good luck with this one.  The first chapter would have you believing it's a horror novel, but that couldn't be further from the truth.  At its nucleus, DUST is an action-adventure of global sprawl, yet T. Nelson also gives us a healthy dose of sci-fi thriller and conspiracy, while sprinkling the top with dashes of religion and the paranormal.The novel is also heavily laced with pop culture references and Hollywood homage.
 
A celebrated biomechanics engineer named Christopher Miller is on the cutting edge of a brand new semiconductor technology, blissfully unaware of those that will stop at nothing to acquire it.  That is--if either of them knew exactly what it truly is in the first place.
