The Bavarian Yankee

WWII has just ended. The US army is under orders not to fraternize with the Germans, but Ted Johnson, an energetic lieutenant with the 157th Battalion, manages to make friends despite the ban. Soon he falls in love with Betty, a young German girl who has found work at the base. When Sargeant Engel is murdered, Ted goes on a dangerous mission to smash black market operations. Betty's charms and diplomatic skills help ameliorate strained relations with the Russions, but conflict rises again when Ted travels to Bergen, Norway, in search of a sunken U-boat which holds a secret that threatens the new balance of power in the post-war world.
