Victoria, a time traveler must find someone to send back to the 14th century to retrieve an amulet without which she cannot survive. She finds Laura, a computer programmer who has been working on a virtual reality program that takes place in a 14th century castle. With no time to really prepare her Victoria sends Laura back. Here she encounters refugees from the plague and an omnipotent Lord who wants to marry her off.
