The Burnop family was from Westmorland County, England and Bertha's ancestors were from the Smyth, Carroll and Grayson counties area of Virginia. Immigrants were primarily from England and Germany. The related Duncan, Fischbach, Hanks, Heimbach, Holtzclaw, Hylton, Morricle, Otterbach, Pratt, Stuell, Vaughan, and Weddle families also have chapters including descendancy reports.
