Bad Blood: A Novel

When Victor Wallberg calls his neighbor, Dr. Clifford Harris, complaining of severe stomach pain, Dr. Harris reluctantly agrees to see him. Wallberg’s critical condition requires an immediate trip to the hospital, followed by what appears to be a successful surgery.

Minutes after surgery Wallberg takes a turn for the worse and dies. Because of a questionable, split-second decision that seemingly results in Wallberg’s death, Dr. Harris is accused of murder and must stand trial. With his life and career on the line, Dr. Harris and his family are thrust into a situation for which their upper-class suburban experience has not prepared them. Things look even worse when the police learn there is animosity between Harris and Wallberg and establish a motive for Wallberg’s murder. As the case moves forward, the evidence mounts against Dr. Harris, but some doubt still lingers. Will the truth behind the death of Victor Wallberg ever be known?
