Nine-year-old Prince Tutankhaten's hero-worship of his adored older brother, the CoRegent SmenkhKare, takes a big hit, when he and his companions discover his brother involved in a secret meeting with masked conspirators in a plot against Pharaoh Akhenaten. Prince Tut is torn by disbelief and must decide soon whether to betray his hero, as the day the conspirators planned to strike draws nigh. Tut and his companions begin to learn rudimentary magic along with their other studies, useful when they try to forestall the intrigue. But unexpected consequences result when Prince Tut finally confides in his favorite cousin, Queen Ankhesenpaaten.
