Beginning during the tumultuous time of WW II in Germany, it is the story of a young boy whose father is killed in the Battle of Stalingrad, The author describes his search for father figures and follows his development as he leaves post WW II Germany behind and immigrates to America with his family to make a new life. Adjusting to both a stepfather and a new culture, his story explores the development of his life through introspection and finding meaning in life's unexpected experiences. The author writes with both pathos and humor.
