American Landscape

American Landscape is a sweeping generational saga of loyalty and betrayal at the beginning of J. Edgar Hoover’s reign of surveillance and blackmail of innocent people in 1920. Hoover and his deputy henchman, Clyde Tolson, have assigned young FBI recruit Howard Gimble to stop the union organization work of Yelena Ivanov, whom Howard has known and loved since their childhood years together. Within the scope of world shattering events, the lives of Howard and Yelena, Ev Carmody, a Federal Marshal, and Randolph Logan, a young newspaper reporter, converge in the small desert town of Mesa, New Mexico. Ev Carmody, a man of honor, is obsessed in his battles against corporate greed and the exploitation of American citizens and natural resources. Yelena and Howard enter into his landscape, a microcosm of immigrants, frontier drifters, and Navajo Indians. In a final clash of cultures and future hopes and destinies, Howard, Yelena, and Ev and Randolph Logan unite together to fight tyranny and injustice in the American Dream under the shadow of the impending Second World War.
