Private Investigator Katherine “Cash” Delaney and Defense Attorney Laura Bennett are best friends and partners who have worked together for years in Ithaca, New York. After the successful conclusion of a difficult case, Bennett is murdered in an act of revenge and Delaney is critically wounded. As she recovers, she makes a life-altering decision to seek a private solution for Bennett’s untimely death. Along with her friend, Sarah Ehrenson, Delaney moves to the South, to the small southeastern town of Carolina Beach, North Carolina. Enter Stella Conroy, herself a Private Investigator in that town, and enter trouble. As Delaney and Ehrenson and Conroy work to bring justice to the murder of Laura Bennett, they must also work to understand and solve the stunning slaughter of two local black men before time runs out.
