Stephen Bennett has just lost his lover to the ravages of AIDS while below him, the Castro District of San Francisco is alive with revelry. It’s November of 1992 and Bill Clinton has just been elected President. HIV positive himself, and with a fourteen year old stepson to raise, Stephen makes an impulsive decision. He buys a house in Minneapolis. He and stepson Caden move there in an attempt to reconnect with the family Stephen left behind fifteen years earlier. Faced with his own mortality, Stephen must learn to be a parent, grieve the loss of his lover and repair the relationships he left behind so many years ago. Through relationships found or rediscovered, secrets are revealed. Old resentments and new beginnings send Stephen and his extended family hurtling towards one shocking night, New Year’s Eve, 1993, when a heartbreaking act of violence threatens to shatter all of their worlds apart.
