Description

During the early 1970s, the reliability problems of the DMS class of Daimler Fleetline caused endless problems for London Transport, and as they were not able to design and build their own buses, they resolved not to be caught out twice. Thus was developed the Leyland Titan, an attractive, amenable and reliable second-generation OPO (One Person Operated) bus that entered service on 4th December 1978.

Completing nearly 25 years of service on the frontline, the T class saw London through this uncertain time of division and privatization. At the end of this period, with all remaining examples, including those latterly used on schools and private-hire work, now gone from frontline service, the future careers of the London Transport Titans have been no less interesting, with buses seeing use by operators large and small the length and breadth of the country.

In this book, noted heritage bus expert Matthew Wharmby explores in detail the complete history of the London Titan, the last of the bespoke London Transport buses. Illustrated throughout with over 300 color and black and white photographs, this book will appeal to the many bus enthusiasts around the country.
