Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (Dublin Studies in Medieval and Renaissance Literature)

This book proposes an interpretation of the late fourteenth century English romance in the light of medieval conceptions of art that are radically different from those of our own day. At the centre of this study is the notion of the idea itself as the generating principle of the work of art, and this notion is set out in the terms of the Scholastic Aristotelianism as expounded by Aquinas.
