Organic Chemistry

This second edition has been reorganized to include more student study aids, new problem sets and applications. "Organic Chemistry" employs the standard functional group approach, leading students in a logical sequence from the alkanes to more and more highly functionalized classes of molecules. The physical properties of simple organic compounds are introduced early, as are basic physical concepts such as kinetics and thermodynamics. Reaction chemistry is juxtaposed to the mechanism by which each reaction proceeds, and important spectroscopic techniques are introduced as needed and used thereafter to elucidate chemical structures. Throughout, Vollhardt and Schore, a new co-author, demonstrate the everyday relevance of organic chemistry by presenting aoplications to biological and industrial processes.
