The manual aims to teach the student how organic chemistry is "done." While the experiments illustrate basic concepts in organic chemistry, they also teach students how to function effectively, efficiently, and safely in the chemical laboratory, how to make reliable and accurate observations and interpret them, how to use basic equipment and perform common lab techniques, and how to think about organic chemistry and write up their ideas in a professional manner.
