Phonics First - Grades 2-4 (Phonics First (Milliken))

The phonics activities in this book teach about word parts and how to put these parts together to build words. In this book, students will learn to recognize base words and how they change when different beginnings and endings are added. Children will learn to recognize, build, and use words in different ways, including concepts such as contractions, possessives, compound words, homonyms, homographs, dividing words into syllables, prefixes, suffixes, and recognizing dictionary spellings and markings. The pages can be used as drill reinforcement or as independent instructional material. The whimsical pictures help motivate students to learn through a variety of activities. These activities include tracing and writing, coloring, cutting and pasting, matching, and puzzles. Review pages have also been included, as well as an awards page at the end of the book for added motivation.
