War and International Ethics

Examines the arguments and changes in the tradition of justified war. Looks at why such people as Cicero, Ambrose, Augustine, Aquinas, Vitoria, Grotius, Vattel, Clausewitz, Lieber, Ford, Murray, and Walzer have held that war could be a moral activity. To test the tradition's value today, the author makes applications to nuclear deterrence, intervention, revolution and terrorism.
