A View From the Top

This monograph of the Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges for Teacher Education (AILACTE) presents perspectives of fifteen college presidents regarding teacher education in American liberal arts settings. As the decade of the 1990s unfolds, liberal arts colleges have an opportunity to make substantial new contributions to teacher education. This opportunity to contribute must include publicizing what these institutions stand for and accomplish in teacher education both at individual campuses and on a larger scale. This monograph is the first in a planned series to be edited by AILACTE. Contributing schools include: Arkansas College, Augustana College, Austin College, Beloit College/Union College, Concordia College, Goshen College, Grand Canyon University, Hood College, Luther College, Moorhead State University, National-Louis University, North Park College & Theological Seminary, Occidental College, Oklahoma Baptist University, Teachers College, and Columbia University.
