The Willamette locomotive

This book is the story of the only mass-produced geared locomotive constructed on the West Coast. For a brief time, it was a serious rival to the Shays produced by the Lima Locomotive Works because it had features specially designed for logging in the Pacific Northwest. The author provides complete historical and statistical data on all 33 Willamettes, complemented by both geographical and ownership cross-references. For the modeler, scale drawings of each of the three classes is provided as well as comprehensive photo coverage of each engine. As a bonus there are drawings of a "Willamette that never was" and a Washington Iron Works "Shay-type" locomotive. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos. 182 pages.
