This volume promotes the use of peptides and polyamino acids in a variety of settings. Its 25 chapters focus on examples from the mineralization sciences; the power and sophistication of biotechnology as applied to peptides, including growth substances, antioxidants, and antifreezes; problems of adhesion, corrosion, and dispersion; how organisms regulate silica deposition; and how silica deposits are dealt with in industrial settings. The authors, representing both academia and industry, focus on chemistry and materials aspects of their research.
