Phonics Books: Phonics and Word Study, Level C - 3rd Grade

Phonics and Word Study is designed to help students develop the skills necessary for independence in reading. Level C begins with a review of initial, medial, and final consonants and consonant blends and digraphs; silent consonants; and the sounds of consonant s, c, and g. The book also deals with short and long vowels, variant vowel sounds and vowel spellings, endings, base words, plurals, possessives, prefixes, and suffixes. Additional skills concern alphabetizing, using the dictionary, synonyms, antonyms, homophones, homographs, compound words, contractions, syllabication, accent, and the schwa sound.
