Gender, Education and Training looks at the imbalance in educational participation among women and men, and reflects on its causes and consequences. Some papers offer solutions, for example; gender-awareness training for teachers in Nepal, and an approach to adult literacy training which promotes gender equality. Others look at education as an empowering process, highlighting the problem that too often the formal education system serves merely to confirm gender stereotypes, and school women for subordination.
