Piracy and the English Government, 1616-1642 (Studies in Naval History)

This work aims to explode the myth that England was "a nation of pirates", arguing that the English people were more often the victims of piracy. The costs to the English economy and society resulting from piracy are examined in terms of slavery, government responses and broad political concerns.
