History for All the People: One Hundred Years of Public History in North Carolina

This book traces the history of the North Carolina Historical Commission, predecessor of the present-day North Carolina Office of Archives and History, from its beginning in 1903 through the first years of the twenty-first century. The ten chapters are arranged chronologically by decade. Twenty separate sidebars on diverse topics such as the North Carolina Historical Review, Town Creek Indian Mound, Tryon Palace, and the discovery of what is believed to be Blackbeard's flagship, the Queen Anne's Revenge, accompany the main text. Also included are more than ninety black-and-white illustrations.
