The author has paid special attention to assembling material about the habits of macaws in the wild and their behavior in captivity, drawing on the findings of others as well as on his own travels and bird-keeping experience. Each species account includes information about life in the wild, care, and breeding. The discussion of macaws in general covers accommodations, feeding, breeding, purchase, acclimation, sexing, and illness.
