Colonial Records of the Upper Potomac A Path to Destruction is the fifth in a series of reference sources and a tool for historians and genealogists to gain insight about a particular family or event within an area and period of time for which few conventional sources have survived. Wives and children, servants and slaves and Indians were usually not mentioned in available records but references to them are included whenever possible. Chances are good that heads of household in the region before the French and Indian War should be found in at least one of the five volumes. References to documents and people that appear to be outside of the region are included when they appear to have some association with the Upper Potomac area. Lawsuits involving people in debt or accused of a crime are included because these cases also have plaintiffs and witnesses and often contribute interesting incidental information.
